Part one of my bridal beauty regime is in full swing so now it’s time to move on to phase two. SKINCARE. I made a New Year’s beauty resolution to take better care of my skin this year in the hope of obtaining that supermodel worthy glow on my big day. Here are a few of the things I’m doing to step up my beauty regime as a bride to be.
*Idealia Life Serum by Vichy here.
Never in my life have I considered investing in a serum. I’ve never felt grown up enough but with six months to go until the wedding I’m bringing out the big guns. One of products I’ve incorporated into my daily beauty routine is the Idelia Life Serum by Vichy. I was very kindly sent this product to try last November and I’ve been using it under my moisturiser (also Vichy) morning and night ever since. I like to give products like this a lengthily trial period as it’s unlikely that you would see the results of using a serum in a day or a week. This product has really improved the hydration of my skin especially in the extra dry areas on my face such as my forehead and my nose and I’ve received a few complements on my complexion since I’ve been using it. Bonus!
Now that I’ve tried this product I don’t think I could go back to using a moisturiser alone. My favourite thing about this serum is it isn’t oily or greasy, it’s the same texture as the Idealia moisturiser and it’s the same pretty powder pink colour.
The Clarisonic Plus Sonic Skin Cleansing System here.
My Mum bought me the Clarisonic for Christmas and I’ve been using it 2-3 times a week since then. It comes with its own branded cleanser but I use it with my Liz Earle cleanse and polish as I find the Clarisonic one a little bit harsh. The great thing about the Clarisonic is that you can use it with any cleanser you fancy and it leaves your skin feeling buffed and polished regardless.
Proactiv Complexion Perfecting Hydrator here.
I’ve been using a mish-mash of products lately but there is something really satisfying about creating a skin regime that is focussed around one brand. So when the Proactiv range landed in my letterbox I was really exited to try it. The range includes a cleanser, an exfoliator, a purifying mask, a pore corrector and a perfecting hydrator AKA moisturiser. I’ve wanted to try Proactiv ever since Jessica Simpson was the face of the brand way back when and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has seen those 40 minute informercials about it on American TV.
Proactiv Skin Purifying Mask here
I used the range for two weeks and the verdict isn’t exactly life changing. I liked the exfoliator, the moisturiser and the mask but I found the cleanser to be very drying. I don’t suffer from acne or oily skin but I do think if you are prone to breakouts, this range would be a God-send. It doesn’t matter how old you are, but blemishes can be part of your life. I suffer from skin pigmentation on my forehead and I’m always looking for products to help with this issue and i’m not sure if products that dry my skin out will reduce it. Thankfully, with the right treatment, you can minimise pigmentation and learn anti-aging tricks to undo the damage caused by spending too much time in the sun or on tanning beds.
Have you tried the Proactiv range? Also, if you have a Clarisonic, I’d love to know what products you use with yours so leave me a note in the comments! Happy Friday!
6 months to go isn’t long, it’ll fly by! 🙂
Is great that your so organised and willed in the beauty department, I really wasn’t.
It’s nice to reas that you’ve actually tested products for a lengthy time, that longer than 2 days. I always wonder with some reviews whether people have actually tried them or just want their ‘review’ up first…
I’d always wondered about Proactiv range.Like you mention, I know the name from adverts and do remember Jessica being the face of it. A shame that you weren’t 100% sold on it and didn’t really work for you.. I guess with some products you do think and believe that they’ll be life changing. A bit of a let down really.
I read so much and so many people mention and review the Clarisonic, or something similar and there’s quite varied reviews. I do um and ah over getting one..
