Photo Creator Waterproof Camera Review

Here’s a quick review of the Photo Creator Waterproof Camera by Canal Toys, which we received right before our summer family holiday, and it has easily become the most loved gadget in our house. If your children are constantly begging to use your smartphone to take photos, especially when they are playing near the water, this camera completely solved that problem, giving my child total creative freedom while keeping my expensive phone safely tucked away in my bag. After testing it out at the pool, I can confidently say this is one of the best children’s electronic toys on the market.

Built to Survive Real Water Play
The standout feature of this camera is its incredible waterproofing. It allows kids to confidently take photos and record videos up to 3 meters underwater. My child had an absolute blast diving to the bottom of the pool to snap pictures of pool toys and capture videos of small fish near the shoreline at the beach. Crucially, the camera floats. When it inevitably slipped out of my child’s hands in the deeper end of the pool, it bobbed right up to the surface instead of sinking to the bottom, making it incredibly easy to retrieve.

Kid-Friendly Design and Serious Durability
The sleek, lightweight, and easy-grip design is perfectly scaled for smaller hands (recommended for ages 7 and up). It is also exceptionally durable. It survived several accidental drops onto hard poolside tiles, a tumble down a sand dune, and being completely buried in wet beach sand without a single glitch or scratch on the lens. The buttons are tactile, large, and intuitive, meaning my daughter was able to figure out how to switch between photo mode, video mode, and the playback gallery within just two minutes of opening the box.

Loaded with Creative Extra Features
The bright rear LCD screen makes it easy for kids to instantly frame and review their shots, even in bright sunlight. What really kept her engaged for hours, though, were the 20+ built-in fun frames and creative filters. She loved customising her photos directly on the device, adding wacky borders, cartoon elements, and cool retro colour filters to their underwater shots. It transforms photography from a simple point-and-shoot activity into a highly engaging digital art project.

Ready to Go Out of the Box
As a parent, I deeply appreciate when a toy includes everything needed to get started. This kit comes packed with a memory card and a USB-C cable for quick recharging. There is no scrambling for spare AA batteries, and they could start using it the second it was unwrapped.

While the photo resolution is exactly what you would expect for a children’s digital toy—meaning it won’t replace a professional camera—the images are remarkably clear, vibrant, and full of character. It gives kids a wonderful outlet to document their adventures through their own eyes. It is highly recommended for vacations, water parks, or active outdoor play!

This is a great main present to keep on your radar for Christmas.
