I’ve Launched a Substack! Here’s What It’s All About

This week, I launched my Substack, Curiously Delulu. *jumps up and down with glee* If you have no idea what that is, don’t worry. I didn’t either until a week ago, and the process has been humbling for sure. So, it’s basically a blog that I started when I woke up the other day, armed with only a catchy name in mind and a cute logo.

Why would you need another blog, I hear you ask? Well, this one has been my hobby for ten years, and it’s also a side hustle. I make an income from sponsored posts here, and honestly, my personal posts are what people go mad for, so I wanted a space to truly be myself, where I can post personal rants and thoughts and hopes and dreams and experiences. No brands peeping in at my personal life, and a blog that feels 100% me. I didn’t want to have a bunch of posts pre-prepared, so I wrote something from the heart and published it. And now it exists! Cool huh?

A proud moment

Starting a Substack with a sprinkling of posts and no clue how to navigate the dashboard feels like shouting into the abyss with my 2 subscribers (Hi Mum), and it reminded me how proud I am and should be of this blog. My friend bought me my blog as a birthday present (Thank you Maggie, this may have just been my favourite gift I’ve ever received) and I had no idea that I would still be posting at the age of 40!

The brands I’ve worked with, the dedication to updating it and having 178 pages of posts is something I would have never imagined starting out. I tend to play my blog down when I meet people and they ask about it, but it is truly something I’m proud to have created, and I’ve enjoyed documenting huge life events here, such as the personal letters I write to my daughter each year.

Those posts will now be written on my Substack and I’ve already started my daughter’s seventh birthday post and I can’t wait to publish it. My posts about parenting, divorce, dating and pregnancy are some of my favourites, but I’ve also been lucky enough to have some special experiences and pinch-me moments along the way. Like the time Mum and I met David Gandy at an Aspinal of London blog event and the time I got to go to The Pride of Britain with Lidl. Not to mention the countless exciting PR packages, hotel stays and blogger meet-ups I’ve been to and friends I’ve made.

What you can expect from my Substack

My Substack will be buzzing with hilariously derranged personal dating stories for paid subscribers (my first paid post all about fresh starts, went live yesterday eeeeeeeek, and you can read it here), odes to friendship and everything I’m experiencing as a 40-year-old single parent looking for love for the free subscribers. It’s a place where I can celebrate small wins with you all (there’s a chat to join), but also hopefully build a community and interact with the select few readers who have been here since day dot (My Mum, my USA bestie, my mum’s friend Theresa, my mum’s hairdresser and of course, Mama Dee I’m looking at you). I will also be sharing writing that I’ve never shared here, which feels pretty special if not a little daunting. You can expect a shiny new blog post every Friday.

Let me know what posts you would like on Substack in the comments and come join me over there!

Don’t worry, I’ll still be posting here and bringing you lots of lovely gift guides, tips and collabs just like always.

Love you all loooooong time. x
