Don’t we all want gorgeous glowing skin? I’m forever buying products that promise to give me that dewy supermodel skin that I’ve always wanted so why does splashing out on facials always seem like a luxurious indulgence that we should save for special occasions? My beauty maintenance routine is already overflowing and adding regular facials to the list seemed like an unnecessary expense as my skin isn’t particularly prone to breakouts and generally behaves itself at all times. Honestly, it never occurred to me that there were greater things on the horizon for my skin as apart from it being a tad dry, I’d always just been thankful for a clear complexion. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to experience a bespoke facial with celebrity facialist Abigail James at the Liz Earle treatment rooms in Leeds and what a revelation it was. Not only did I discover their beautiful treatment rooms (that I had no idea existed) but I also added a few new skin saviours to my daily routine. Let’s take a look at the products I can’t get enough of from the Liz Earle range.
Having just turned 31 a few days before my treatment, the timing couldn’t have been better as I got to ask Abigail all the questions I had regarding the products to introduce into my skincare routine to prevent the early signs of ageing among other pressing questions. I had a bespoke facial that was designed to address my personal skin concerns, the main ones being a more youthful complexion and of course there was the on-going quest for a glowing, dewy skin. Abigail got to work with one of my absolute favourite Liz Earle products, the cleanse and polish but she mixed it with a brightening treatment mask to bring out my inner glow. This is a great technique that I’m going to incorporate into my daily and nightly cleansing routine to brighten my complexion.
Once my face was cleansed, a spritz of the Instant Boost Tonic was applied to my skin while Abigail chose a few key products from the Superskin range that are designed to plump and smooth the skin. She focused on my eye area with the Superskin Eye Cream, a product that I now use nightly. She also massaged in the Superskin face serum and the Superskin Concentrate which is more of an oil consistency and it smells absolutely divine.
I’ve been meaning to add an eye cream to my daily beauty routine for a long time now and I’ve finally found one that I love. Abigail chose the Superskin Eye Cream due to its intense brightening and soothing properties and its botanical blend of rosehip, borage and cranberry seed oils. I’ve been using this product nightly for the last few weeks and it is the perfect finishing touch to my bedtime routine. I use a pea sized amount and tap it all around the eye area to hydrate and de-puff. Just look at that packaging.
The Superskin Face Serum £48
The Superskin face serum is now a daily essential for me and I apply a layer of this every morning after cleansing and toning but before my moisturiser. It’s designed to firm up the skin and I definitely think this adds a luxurious touch to my morning beauty regime. Using a serum daily makes me feel like I’m taking care of my skin and it doesn’t feel greasy at all. I wouldn’t recommend this serum if you use a thick moisturiser as it could be a bit heavy but I use a really lightweight Vichy one which complements this face serum nicely.
The Superskin Concentrate £21
The Superskin Concentrate is perhaps my favourite product from the Superskin range mainly due to its incredibly relaxing aroma. The rollerball application makes it super simple to apply but it did take me a while to get it right when it comes to how much of the product you actually need. I went a little overboard the first time I used it and now I apply it more sparingly and massage it with an upward motion. The scent reminds me of my favourite spa and it really does have a calming effect. I think I’ll take this with me on my next night flight as I think not only will it help me sleep but it could work wonders on de-stressing me pre takeoff when applied to the pulse points.
In the last few years, there’s been an influx of cleansing tools on the market such as the Clarisonic and the Foreo Luna to name a few. I personally love my Clarisonic and presumed that the Foreo cleansing device would be very similar. It actually provides a totally unique cleansing experience that I absolutely adored and you can’t deny the cute factor that comes with the mini version. I’m quite tempted to invest in the tiny Foreo Play (in pink of course) for holidays as it is such a cute travel size. Abigail used the Foreo Luna during the facial for a deeper cleanse and I have to say, I was suitably impressed by the results.
My skin looked absolutely flawless after the treatment so much so that I sat in Fillmore and Union completely bare faced and caught up on some emails for an hour before heading home. I usually find that facials bring out all of the impurities in my skin so I predicted an impending breakout the day after but it never came. In fact my skin looked better than ever as the days passed. If your skin is in need of a little TLC, or you have a special occasion coming up I can’t recommend a trip to the Liz Earle treatment rooms enough. I’m thinking of booking a course just to keep my skin in tip top condition.
While I love discovering and sharing new brands with you, I love sharing the products from some of my most-loved brands that I can’t live without. My love affair with Liz Earle will be nothing new to you lovely readers, in fact I featured the cleanse and polish and toner just a couple of weeks ago in my Daily Beauty Essentials post so I was overjoyed to review their incredible facial treatments and excited about the opportunity to test out some of their Superskin range.
