Being Softer With Yourself

Treating yourself to little things that help you feel good is essential, but almost everyone feels a little bit guilty about it. Even after everything you do for others and how busy you are, you likely desperately need a little bit of your time or a treat.

Most people will avoid doing nice things for themselves, even though it is well deserved and there should be little treats in every day.

Use The Special Stuff

Have you got a special dress, candle, pen set or hair oil stored away for a special day? Well, perhaps it’s time to dust it off and use it because you deserve a little bit of something special any day. You might have to ask yourself, what are you saving that thing for? Most of the time, there is no reason to save it; we just reserve things we think are special for ‘one day’.

Think about the things you have that are reserved for a special day, and go ahead and wear it, do it, use it.

It will feel like a little bit of magic – a much-deserved bit of magic.

Me Time

What ‘me time’ is is individual. For some people, my time is writing for fun; for others, it is time out of the house with friends and coffee; for others, it is a spa day with no phone, a facial and a Thai massage with essential oils.

Time is one of the biggest luxuries that we have, and you should be able to have some of it for yourself. When you have no time away from people, even the people you love the most in the world – you have no mental space and no personal space; being overwhelmed and touched out is a recipe for high-stress levels, and that leads to more issues (mental and physical).

Dreamy

Daydreaming is a luxury that many of us shake off and ignore. There have been many studies that show anxiety and stress are both reduced by allowing ourselves to daydream. Not only does it give us a bump of happiness, but it can help us concentrate (contrary to popular belief) and boost our creativity and problem-solving skills, too!

Letting ourselves daydream is a little bit of luxury when the days seem long and difficult; letting our minds wander can be incredibly beneficial.

Protecting Your Peace

Life is too short not to be comfortable, and some of that comes from the outer world – soft socks and blankets, and some of that comes from us being soft, too.

Being soft is often used as a slur, but really, being soft can come from being in love with you, living a little slower and more purposefully, and embracing things that are tender and gentle. But to be soft, you have to create boundaries, too, to ensure that you are protecting your own peace.

Being kind to yourself and others and letting people be kind to you will have the effect of allowing you to be softer – if that is what you want.

You can start smaller and work your way into creating a life where you are softer with yourself, and it can all start with the right outfit – naturally – How To Dress To Feel Your Best – Remie’s Luxury Blog.
