I think out of all of my luxury gift guides this year, this one is the one I’ve been most looking forward to creating. There is just something so fun about stocking fillers. When I put together these guides, I always start with what I’d like to find in my stocking or what I’d pop in other peoples and I usually start in the food hall of some of my favourite department stores. Food and drink in miniature form always go down well as stocking fillers and they don’t cost a fortune. Growing up I used to get the most excited about my stocking as it would always have something novelty and fun inside but always thoughtful.
So what makes a good stocking filler?
An easy way to create a stocking that can’t fail to delight is to fill it to the brim with one particular thing that they love. I’ll never forget when I was little my mum filled mine with packet after packet of Milkyway stars (remember them?) but this would work equally well with sheet masks, mini Christmas puddings, tea, or gin. It’s funny when you’re little it’s stockings full of chocolate that make your eyes light up, and then somewhere after 27, you’re suddenly ecstatic about the thought of fancy salt and certain brands of truffle oil. Then you become a mum and you just want a stocking full of coffee, one you can just hook up to like an IV that channels caffeine directly into your bloodstream.
