With Jolie’s second birthday looming, I was wondering how to celebrate the milestone without breaking any rules or breaking the bank. Large gatherings were out, but I was still determined to celebrate and find small ways to make the day feel special and birthday-ey. I’m talking about the non-negotionables. Balloons. Cards. Gifts and of course CAKE. Plus lots of love and laughter. At first, I felt like I wasn’t doing enough, but then I realised how lucky I was to be able to the small things that we take for granted, especially slap bang in the middle of a tough year. This year, birthday celebrations were a bit different, but we didn’t let the lockdown restrictions cast a shadow over the fun and frolicks. We had tea and cake with Nana. Here’s how I threw a little lockdown party with the help of Moonpig.
The Theme
Yes, lockdown means the guestlist is significantly smaller, but you know what? This means fewer people to cater for (less cake to share) and fewer people to impress which means a lovely low key birthday party with zero stress. That being said, even teeny tiny parties need a theme. We went with a pink and silver theme with a few Peppa Pig related items thrown in for good measure as Peppa is Jolie’s favourite.
Isn’t this little birthday dress from Zara a dream?
Personalise a Card
Moonpig made preparing for our party so simple. No popping to the shops for gifts, balloons, or decorations! Everything we needed we could order online including the cutest personalised card.
I have kept all of Jolie’s cards in a memory box so this one will make a super cute addition. I think a personalised card is such a nice touch at a time when you can’t get together with friends and family as much as you would like.
Order Gifts Online
Braving the shops in a mask isn’t the most fun, so I ordered all of Jolie’s birthday gifts online this year. Moonpig kindly put together a little birthday hamper for Jolie based on her favourite things which of course included a mini Peppa Pig book library, a Peter Rabbit bunny to go with her ever-growing bunny collection and some mermaid themed Tupperware that Jolie has been carrying snacks around in ever since she opened them. I knew that Moonpig sold cute as a button cards (I’m a sucker for a personalised card) as I often send them to friends overseas beacuse they arrive super quick but I had no idea they did birthday gifts. They do all kinds of cute and thoughtful gifts!
45678 toys but the box is always the most fun.
This post was in collaboration with Moonpig but my love for throwing birthday parties is 100% my own…
