If you have any type of garden, let’s face it you won lockdown. With restrictions lifting, we’re all venturing out a little more but I think we’re all still at the spending lots of time at home stage. If like me, you’ve upgraded certain areas of your home or garden, (I finally got the TV I wanted on the wall in our kitchen) it makes sense to make the most of those little luxuries! This little post is designed to help you live your best outdoor life. Here are a few ideas on how to uplevel your outdoor space.
A Water Feature
If there’s one thing I’ve been jealous of this summer is anyone who a little pool in their garden. I’ve seen various levels of dedication to this. From adult-sized paddling pools, to slip and slides to actual Olympic wave pools. While I’m not about to install a hot tub in my garden (don’t tempt me), I do love the idea of a little water feature to take the edge of a hot day.
An Atmospheric Fire Pit
Every garden I love on Pinterest has a fabulous fire pit. If you use your garden as an entertaining space, a fire pit is an ultimate addition. Is there anything more cozy than when the sun sets and you toast marshmallows in the flames? Alexa. Play Ging Gang Gooli by the C.R.S.
Furniture that Mimics a Luxury Reatreat
I go through phases when it comes to furnishing my garden, mostly because whenever the sun isn’t out (which is most days) I forget about my love of sunbathing, but if there is one thing I don’t regret it is investing in sun loungers. I toyed between a full rattan table and chairs situ, a hammock and two sun loungers and because the space is limited, all of the above simply wasn’t an option. I went for the loungers and every time the sun pops out I pretend I’m in the Bahamas. Pina Colada is optional.
Welcome Wildlife In
My daughter has started to notice birds in our garden and it’s inspired me to find more ways to invite wildlife into our tiny outdoor space. We’ve added a little birdhouse to our fence and something so small has created a lovely little morning ritual for Jolie and I.
Colours and Textures
One way to jazz up a tired outdoor space is to add a little colour and depth. I’m talking something small like striped seating cushions and a textured woven rug with a chevron print to larger updates like Indian Flagstone Driveways. Adding a pop of colour is easy and doesn’t have to cost a fortune. If you need a new flooring option, go for something warm and tonal. Adding a pretty parasol or a bold woven furniture set can change the whole aesthetic.

Great post!! I have been obsessed with my outdoor space since being under quarantine – I’ll take as much outside time as I can get!
I love your suggestion to add a water feature. Even if it’s small it makes your space feel tranquil but also drowns out some noise too.
Thanks for the suggestions!
