What’s this? A beauty review? Yes, this is the first official beauty review that I’ve posted in 2019 and the first beauty launch this year that I’ve been excited to tell you about. Dr Botanicals kindly sent me their rescue butter to review and it arrived through my letterbox just in time for my trip to Dubai. As soon as this arrived I knew it would be my holiday hero product that I would use everywhere from the plane to the pool. That being said, I think this product will really come into its own in the winter when my skin has that central heating induced dryness. So, here goes. Do you need it? Would I repurchase it? What can you use it for?
What is it?
Ok, so it’s an all in one rescue butter and it is UH MAZING but what will you actually use it for? In short. Lots of things. Your dry elbows, your chapped lips, your cracked heels and as an intense moisture injection to revive a dull complexion. The best part, in my opinion, is that as a multi-use balm there’s always a chance you could buy this and it could be stuck in your drawer for months as you forget to use it but I found I dug it out of my beach bag each day without fail.
Why I love it
It’s the ultimate moisture balm that you’ll find a million uses for. It’s replaced my Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream and that should give you a hint as to how incredible this product is. I used it on my elbows, knees and heels where I struggle with dryness on the run-up to getting a spray tan but I also used it as an intense moisture hit on my face to combat that dry cabin air on the plane. Now, it can be used as a moisturiser but I feel that it is too thick and rich to use in place of my everyday moisturiser especially in the summer months. I prefer it to be used as a rescue treatment when my face needs a pick me up or an occasional night cream when my skin needs a boost. Dry lips, parched skin and thirsty heels are what this product is ideal for but I think different skin types would find unique uses for it. The lemon scent is super uplifting and has calming qualities that I like when I’m travelling or on the go. Did I mention the packaging is super cute too?
What You Need to Know
I could talk about this product all day but I’ll give you the need to know details here. It’s Vegan-friendly, cruelty-free and 96% natural. It’s ingredients contain lemongrass oil and coconut oil which mean it is ridiculously hydrating and it’s packed with antioxidants. It’s also suitable for sensitive skin.
How Much is it?
It sits around the £15 mark (you can find it on sale here for £9.90) and that means it is a little bit of a luxury but if you have skin concerns that annoy you on the daily (cracked heels or dry flaky skin) it is a great little investment and as it’s a rich thick consistency, a little goes a long way. Would I repurchase it? The jury is still out on this one. I want to see how much use I get out of it now I’m not abroad or travelling and how long it lasts. I did enjoy the scent, the texture and the tube itself is easy to use so I’ll pop back and update you on whether I rebought it when it runs out.
