Good morning lovely readers, I hope you are having a stress free Monday. I casually hiked up a mountain in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday and I’m in desperate need of massage. I’ve been wanting to write a post about self care for a while and massages are one of my favourite ways to relax (although I often find it hard to justify them, read this post if you do too). Unlike other essential beauty treatments that you spend your hard earned cash on, you don’t have shiny new nails or a golden glow to show for it. However, the after effects of a massage can be seen, they are just on the more subtle side. That slight spring in your step, the relaxed demeanour, the fight to get those skinny jeans on eases just a touch and the fact that your tensed shoulders are no longer somewhere up near your ears. Beauty By Emily kindly invited me to try their Decleor Aromamassage and I don’t mind telling you that I left feeling like a new woman. Their Horsforth based salon is more like a spa and you are encouraged to fully enjoy the relaxation process. Unlike other salons, here you can put on a robe and slippers and enjoy a cup of herbal tea in their relaxation room. Just lovely. I’m not going to lie, massages that last an hour an a half are just a game changer. I emerged feeling relaxed, recharged and reset for the day ahead.
So what’s so great about Beauty By Emily?
Firstly, it’s not like your standard salon that offers everything under the sun. Beauty By Emily carefully select their treatments and focus on natural products. So you won’t find nail extensions or acrylics here. What you will find is an extensive treatment offering that includes unique massages and facials as well as Jessica manis and pedis.
The Products: I’ve always been a Decleor fan. I think the brand is perfect for those of us who are just starting to worry about our skin aging and want to do everything we can to make it look like it did ten years ago. My skin needs all the TLC it can get and good quality products are the key to improving the texture and appearance of your skin.
The Technique: If you don’t want a series of standard movements, this treatment is for you. Just when I thought I’d tried every massage going, the Decleor aromamassage happened. Don’t be fooled by its simplistic title. It is so much more than a massage. I’m partial to any treatment that focuses on pressure points and during this treatment trigger points are located and pressure is applied to make the specific area relax. *Goodbye tense shoulders* There’s even a scalp massage and if you weren’t relaxed before this it will send you to a new level of zen. I’m not going to lie, I have a newfound adoration for treatments and massages that focus on the stomach. Many full body massages neglect this area but I find that a few minutes of attention really help to get rid of any unwanted bloating.
The Service: Everything about my experience at Beauty By Emily was relaxed and not in the slightest bit rushed. We began with a consultation addressing any areas of tension and a few key questions about my skin. I emerged from the treatment in my towelling robe in a sleepy haze and was gently brought back to earth with a cup of herbal tea and a biscuit.
The Results: The perfect balance of flippy floppy and re-energised. Essential oils really hydrate the skin and mine is a little on the dry side. After 90 minutes of attention, it felt nice and glowy.
