It has been waaaay too long since I wrote a beauty post hasn’t it? I tend to stick to what I know when it comes to my daily beauty routine but the arrival of a new season always tends to make me want to invest in new beauty treats. Read on to discover my favourite Autumn beauty buys.
First up is the rebalancing black soap by L’Occitane. I’ve never used anything by L’Occitane before (probably because I can’t pronounce it) but I was more than a little intrigued by this product. Don’t let the scary name put you off. I’ve been using this soap three times a week in the bath after the gym as it is more of a luxurious body treatment rather than a simple soap to be used every day. The idea is you apply to damp skin and then get in the bath to soak in it and let it work its magic on your skin.
This month I’ve been re-discovering Dermalogica. This was one of the first beauty brands I fully bought in to. You know when you buy one product (the special cleansing gel in case you were wondering) and then you get the urge to invest in the whole kaboodle so that your entire bed time skincare regime is taken over by one brand? Well that was me at University. Back then my skin was still in teenage mode and having a less than healthy diet probably didn’t help much either. So, when Pure Beauty kindly offered to send me a few products from the latest Dermalogica range, I couldn’t wait to see which products would complement my skin now that it is more mature. I’ve been using a lightweight Vichy face moisturiser all summer and so the skin smoothing cream from Dermalogica felt quite dense compared to this but I do like a richer cream during the A/W months. The texture is rich without being greasy which is great for my dry complexion. I’ve also been testing out the special cleansing gel this week but I found it a little bit too drying. I do think it would be a great option for a more oily complexion. If you suffer from break outs, fill your cabinets with this, it will work wonders.
I always like to pay extra attention to my hair in the colder months. If you have ever used a body butter from The Body Shop, you will know how amazing shea butter is and that is one of the main ingredients in the Raw Shea Moisture hair care range. The repair and transition kit is incredible especially if like me, you insist on covering your hair in bleach every month at the hairdressers. I’ve just had my hair coloured and so it was crying out for these beauties. I love anything with argon oil in so I couldn’t wait to try them out. The kit includes mositurising shampoo and conditioner as well as a deep treatment mask and a reconstructive elixir.
I’m a big believer in intense conditioners and this one from Shea Moisture did exactly what it said on the tin.
The deep treatment masque was my absolute favourite product and my hair felt noticeably softer after the first use. I loved everything in this kit apart from the elixir which I was slightly hesitant about using. I don’t use anything but a touch of detangler and of course heat protection spray after my hair is washed as it tends to get greasy easily but this potion is packed with luxurious oils with zero grease.
