The Full Moon Bathing Ritual I Love

I’ve taken self-care very seriously during lockdown and made my bathroom into the ultimate soothing retreat. I’ve also immersed myself in a few positive daily manifestation rituals to counteract any negative thoughts that tend to flow in when lockdown gets a little much. I’m definitely finding the second lockdown a little easier and I think it’s because I’ve tried to surrender to it and balance work with adequate downtime. Bathtime signals time to switch off, to reset, and to recharge. But it’s also the perfect opportunity to be inspired, boost your mood and focus on positivity. So, I’ve combined my two favourite pastimes and found that the most powerful time to manifest is under a full moon. My new favourite thing to do on a full moon is to have a meditative salt bath. Here’s how to do your very own moon bathing ritual.

Sage your Space

If you really want to harness positivity, the full moon is the ideal time. Begin by lighting a sage stick and smudge your bathroom, making sure you pay particular attention to the corners. This clears out any negative energy. You are now ready to start.

Set the Vibe

Full moon bathing rituals take place after dark and candlelight really makes it all quite magical. I fill my bathroom with all of my favourite candles and use a playlist that soothes my soul. A salt lamp is a nice addition to your space. I also dig out some of my crystals to incorporate them into my bathing ritual. Moonstone, Selenite, and Labradorite are the 3 most powerful crystals associated with the moon. As you go around lighting each of your candles, list one thing you are currently grateful for and give thanks for it.

Be Present

As the bath fills with running water, take a second to focus on how you feel. This is a great time to set an intention. I usually do this as I’m sprinkling salts into the bath. Ask yourself what you want to achieve and what you want to release during this ritual. Your intention can relate to anything from health to career to abundance. Lunar energy is a powerful thing, so if you have anything you want to manifest, this bathing ritual is the foundation for positive change.

Oils and Salts

I tend to use a mixture of salts and essential oils depending on the mood I’m in and what I want to achieve. If it’s healing, I’ll use geranium and peppermint, if it’s feeling a little less anxious, I’ll add pink Himalayan salt and Neroli oil. If I want to feel uplifted and energised, I’ll add drops of eucalyptus.

Relax

Once submerged, close your eyes and really take stock of your thoughts. Soak for around 20-30 minutes. I use this time for reflection, making mental notes of the highlights of my week and what I want to change for the week ahead. I also like to take note of how my body feels and really focus on deep breathing. A full moon bathing ritual is about all of your senses, luxuriate in the heat of the water, enjoy the different fragrances flowing from the tub and enjoy the flickering shadows cast on your bathroom walls from the candle flame.

Let the water drain out of the bath while you are still laid in the tub. As the water flows away from you towards the plughole, imagine it taking any negative energy with it, draining any toxins from your body and imagine the moonlight bathing you in positive energy.

Sterling silver Luna ring (gifted)

Speaking of all things moon-related, how stunning is the silver Luna ring from Estée Lalonde’s latest collection for Daisy London? It’s such a delicate every-day piece that I have been wearing on repeat. It’s the perfect accessory to remind me to set my intentions and manifest some positivity into my life.

Don’t forget to refer to the lunar cycle before doing this ritual. The next full moon is on November 30th. Enjoy!
