Halloween is over which can only mean one thing. Festive gatherings, fancy soirees, girlie get-togethers and night’s in with Netflix and what would a celebration be without a G & T? If you follow me on instagram you may have seen that Yorkshire Tonics sent me a selection of their tonics and so I decided to re-create my favourite gin and tonic combinations at home. Here’s how I create the ultimate gin and tonic creation station from the exact glasses I use right down to the perfect garnish.
Choose your glasses: So, the perfect G & T requires the perfect gin glass and LSA is my go-to brand. These balloon gin glasses are the exact ones I have in my kitchen. Simple yet elegant, they’re built for the ideal gin to tonic ratio not to mention bundles of ice. They make the ultimate addition to your entertaining essentials.
Choose your gins: I like to mix it up with gin but my favourite is a classic Bombay gin which lets the tonic and the garnish do the talking. As a general rule, if I’m using a flavoured gin such as this fancy pants blood orange gin or perhaps a pretty pink gin, I’ll opt for classic tonic water but if I go for a classic gin I’ll spice it up with a flavoured tonic.
Choose Your Tonics: I am a self-confessed tonic snob and I’m a huge fan of a premium mixer but if you’re having a party, why not create your own G & T cocktail station and let guests pick their own gin and tonic combination? *Yorkshire Tonics kindly gifted me their stunning rage of tonic flavours and I’m obsessed with their strawberry and pomegranate tonic as well as their apple and elderflower combo. Who wouldn’t love an all Yorkshire gin and tonic? Flavoured tonics are also a superb option for a non alcoholic option.
Choose your Garnish: Now, the garnish is what makes your G & T visually pleasing. Obviously, lemons and limes are an obvious addition to your gin and tonic but if you want to spice it up, add basil, grapefruit, orange, cucumber, strawberries, peppercorns and edible flowers. Your gin and tonic creation station should be awash with colour so don’t be afraid to get creative with watermelon, mint and even pomegranate. Elevate your garnish selection with your own basil plant!
