Can you tell I’ve got travel on the brain at the moment? I’ve been thinking a lot about blogging lately and the controversy that many bloggers attract with their sun-dappled themes and jet-set lifestyle. Yes, some people feel that bloggers trivialise their travel opportunities and of course, island hopping all summer simply isn’t feasible for many, especially if you’re Debbie in accounts who has to spread 21 holiday days over the course of a year. Let’s not get started on the bloggers that have recently been called out for pitching to hotel brands. I personally have no problem with pitching to brands as long as it’s done in the right way but it’s safe to say that bloggers are under more scrutiny now than ever before. That being said, while I’m often green with envy when I see my favourite bloggers touch down in yet another sunshine state, I also find some bloggers’ travels truly inspiring, you know the people who focus on the destination itself, explore it and make you want to book that flight and experience it for yourself. I’ve listed below some of my go-to bloggers for travel inspiration who in my opinion really get the balance right. Whether it’s an enviable holiday wardrobe, epic photography or a way with words, here are four bloggers to check out now.
In The Frow – India
I’ve never had the impulse to visit India, but one look at Victoria’s insta-feed last month and I was SOLD. Her blog is one of the most polished out there and her photography is perfection. Yes, her incredible outfits mean you have plenty of ideas when it comes to what to pack in your case, but what I really love about In The Frow’s travel posts is how she shows you a different side to a destination and her content is usually very thought-provoking and creative.
Scarlett London – USA
I met Scarlett on a press trip years ago and I’m happy to report that she is just as lovely in real life as she seems online. She is one of the most genuine yet driven bloggers that I’ve met and her blog is always updated with wanderlust inspired posts and she is always travelling somewhere. What I love about Scarlett’s travel content is that it is genuinely helpful. There are far too many travel posts that simply focus on the outfits, but her guides are incredibly useful. I bookmarked her Miami posts and we were never disappointed with the recommendations.
Fashion Fois Gras – Maine
Fashion Fois Gras was one of the first bloggers I ever followed and I’m just as in love with her writing today as I was 6 years ago when I discovered her blog. She’s beyond relatable and recently her travels have had me itching to book something. In fact, Emily’s visits to Maine had me scheduling in a pitstop on our New England road trip in June, a destination I had only read about in Stephen King novels but had never really been on my radar. Have you ever booked a trip on the back of a blog post you read?
Fashion Mumblr – Tulum
It’s Josie’s holiday style that has me mentally packing my suitcase with blush tones and white broderie anglaise dresses. I read her blog religiously and I love the attention to detail that goes into each post. Everything she does is on brand and she has some incredible collaborations and her travel Vlogs are always made to look effortless. I’ve seen hundreds of bloggers take a trip to Tulum but Josie’s Instagram Guides always give me major wanderlust. A girl after my own heart, her dedication to seeking out the best mac and cheese in every destination is something I applaud.
