Hello lovely readers, I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday. One look at my Instagram and it’s pretty obvious how important food is to me. It’s basically a highlight reel of cake shops and brunch spots and if you didn’t know me better you’d be forgiven for thinking my job is to eat my way around town. My hobbies do include eating and drinking in various places and Leeds is pretty incredible for cake and coffee lovers. Last weekend I popped into Salami and Co, a super cute cafe in Otley and the best bit is it’s dog-friendly!
Let me just say that my dog isn’t one of those dogs that will just lie down in a quiet corner and let you enjoy your coffee and cake in peace. Luckily, Salami and Co have lots of things to bribe keep your dog entertained. There is even a sperate Hound Menu with all kinds of delights for your dog to try out. It has everything from Puppucinos to Pupcakes but Ted was a huge fan of the venison sausages and I also got him a cute heart shaped cookie (naturally, for the gram).
I was supposed to be firmly on my holiday diet but I caved at the sight of a chocolate cake with caramel frosting and I was presented with a wedge of cake bigger than my dog. Outwardly horrified. Secretly delighted.
This was probably the best slice of cake I’ve ever eaten and I’m not going to lie, I’ve thought about it every day since. My other half ordered the most incredible looking hot chocolate and a brownie which he abandoned to eat my cake. The cakes come on the cutest marble slabs and add in the rose gold table rims and the pink and white walls (not to mention ALL of the cute puppies) it’s quite literally a blogger’s dream.
LOOK how much fun my dog is having. The walls have little hoops on so you can harness your dog safely and the sunlight streams in the window so they can bask in the sun. There’s water bowls laid out should they get thirsty. They do savoury food too if you’re in the mood for brunch (I fully intend to go back with Ted for the Winter Grilled cheese), but leave room for their homemade cakes. That’s an order.
What are your favourite dog-friendly spots in Leeds?
