My Favourite Autumn Investment Pieces

fashion
Who’s excited about autumn? Yes, I’m very happy about swapping my summery tops for cosy capes. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you will know that I love an investment piece. I love the way that a classic handbag or a timeless pair of flats can transform an outfit and over the years I’ve collected quite a few pieces that I know I’ll adore for years. Let me share with you the latest additions to my collection.

A Black Cape: I bought this wool cape from Maje last Autumn (burgundy one here) and I can’t wait to bring it out again this year. A cape is the perfect transitional piece that you can wear right through Autumn and into the winter months. You can layer it over a long sleeved top when the temperature drops or wear it alone with jeans when it’s not so baltic. I wore this on boxing day with a high waisted black knit skirt and tights and I love how super versatile it is. It has ribbed shoulders and pretty pressstuds. I think if you are going to splash out on an investment piece like this, you need to know it is going to complement a few things that you already have in your wardrobe as there is nothing worse than spending a fortune on one item for it to be stuck in the wardrobe for months.

*A Stylish Timepiece: I’ve wanted a rose gold watch for a while and I fell in love with this mesh design by Skagen. I often wait for the sales to pick up stylish investment pieces and you can find this stunning watch at a discounted price here.  I’ve had so many compliments on mine since I got it. I don’t know about you but a watch always makes me feel polished and my outfits simply don’t feel finished off without one. This mesh strap is trendy but it will still look stunning in years to come. Skagen Watches are both elegant yet understated and I’ve got my eye on this exact design in silver too.

A Designer Bag: The Givengy Antigona bag was on my wish list for three years before I plucked up the courage to buy it. I wear it all the time during the autumn and winter months and it’s big enough to fit my laptop in when I go to blogging events or meetings in London so it’s perfect to travel with. It’s also great for the airport when you need a Mary Poppins bag that fits everything but the kitchen sink. I got it in black even though the burgundy one was calling my name and I haven’t regretted the small fortune it cost once.

The Statement Flats: Since I discovered Nicholas Kirkwood flats I’ve become that person who buys the same thing in every colour imaginable. I bought the gold ones two years ago and literally wore them until they had holes in the sole. I’ve since bought another gold pair and I have my eyes firmly on a black and silver pair. These ones with the pearl heels are just divine. They are the comfiest shoes I’ve ever worn and for £335 they bloody should feel like slippers.

The Wear With Everthing Bangle: Monica Vinader is the queen of investment pieces and I’ve wanted a signature bangle in gold ever since they were created. However, I haven’t actually invested in one yet. This is going to be my next purchase and I can’t wait to add it to my collection. It is so simple but the angular lines make it really on trend. This is going on my Christmas list for sure.
