Create Your Very own Nook
There is nothing better than cosying up on a cold day and indulging in a few of your favourite things and that is what Hygge is all about. First up, it’s time to create your very own cosy nook. Next, fill it with furniture and accessories that encourage you to take time out and enjoy the moment. If you need any encouragement to sit back and put your feet up, this wool and linen pouf created by Danish designer Cecilie Manz should do the trick. This would be the perfect addition to any cosy corner and is currently at the top of my Hygge wish list. You can also find lots of cool otomans, cushions and blankets here.
Cosy Up In Candlelight
Hygge is not about cold clinal light, it’s about creating a soothing atmosphere and what is more calming that candlelight? Candles provide a softer light which means all you have to do is dot around a few candles and the effect will be nothing less than enchanting. I’m obsessed with Jo Malone candles at the moment and I’m currently burning my way through my favourite Lime, Basil and Mandarin scent but this Tranquility candle is next on my list. The concept of Hygge is all about bringing the outdoor in and surrounding yourself with nature and this candle has gentle notes of freshly cut grass and fruit orchards.
Cloud Like Fabrics
When it comes to embracing your inner hygge, comfort is key. Think super soft cushions and throws not to mention the cosiest ponchos, jumpers and slippers. As someone who changes into pyjamas approximately 4 seconds after entering the house, you don’t have to ask me twice to slip into something a little more comfy. Introducing the pocket shawl (I mean it’s pretty much a blanket that you can wear outdoors).
Have you adopted the Hygge concept in your home?
