To celebrate their upcoming Disco Deluxe Shopping Affair event on the 6th October, the lovely team at the Victoria Quarter invited me down to discover their best beauty brands and treated me to a 70s style makeover. Think lots of glitter, shimmer and of course ALL of the highlighter. First stop? Illamasqua for a modern take on the 70s look. It was all very Studio 54.
If you Google 70s style makeup you will no doubt be bombarded with some ever so scary eyeshadow choices but luckily for me the babes at Illamasqua had some gorgeous ideas. We worked with Illamasqua to create a wearable look that captured the glamour of the 70s without venturing into the cliche blue shades. We focussed on shimmery eyeshadow shades, cream blushers and more highlighter than you can shake a brush at. I’ve never had my makeup done at Illamasqua before but I would recommend it. The makeup artists are super talented and it was a great opportunity to see what the brand offered. We started with the skin base foundation which is incredibly lightweight but offers incredible coverage. From here we warmed up the base with a spot of contouring, the most gorgeous cream blush in Rude and a lot of highlighter. I’m obsessed with the Beyond Powder in OMG. The eyes are a mixture of smoked out shimmery brown and gold tones completed with some glamorous lashes. I adore the nude lip in the shade cherub. Next stop? Nars for a more traditional 70s look.
We went for a bright teal shade for the eyes using the new Nars Dual Intensity eyeshadows and my oh my was it bright. So what was all of this in aid of?
The Victoria Quarter is going to be sprinkled with disco balls this October in preparation for it’s annual Shopping Affair. It is designed to kick off the Christmas shopping period and there will be some amazing discounts available on the night. There’ll be disco tunes, dancers and props for you to play with in the 70s style Photo Booth. Space NK, Harvey Nichols and Illamasqua will be doing makeovers in store. *excited face* Race you there!
