Exciting news, House of Fraser are on the look out for a blogger to fill the role of their new beauty ambassador. As part of my entry, I’m sharing with you my ultimate beauty icon and creating a tutorial to help you get the look. So who is my ultimate beauty icon? Oh hey there Blake Lively! *waves*
Why do I want to be House of Fraser’s beauty ambassador? It’s quite frankly an unmissable opportunity that fits perfectly with my love of blogging and my love for writing. I’ll include all of the details at the bottom of the post should you wish to enter. It wasn’t really so much why I chose Blake Lively as my beauty icon but more how could I not choose her? She’s the kind of beautiful that has me scrutinising her looks to see exactly what it is that makes her so beautiful and then instantly wondering if they sell it in Boots. I could go on but I’ll just leave you with the fact that she has married a man almost as beautiful as her, Ryan Reynolds. Blake wins at life. Many beauty icons have a signature look, a feline flick or a bold red lip but Blake Lively has an effortless way of adopting various different styles from dewy beachy looks to old-school hollywood glamour. If any of you saw the Age of Adeline, you will be familiar with Blake’s ability to pull off any beauty trend regardless of how discreet or dramatic it may be. Quite the talent. The look I’ll be focussing on in this tutorial is this chic red carpet beauty look.
Vichy Foundation here, corrector stick here and fixing powder here.
Let’s start with the base. Blake’s red carpet complexion is flawless yet dewy and the new DermaBlend foundation from Vichy provides the perfect coverage without looking caked on. The secret? Blend, blend and blend. I apply mine with a real techniques brush to create a perfectly even base. This liquid foundation is exceptionally hydrating which ensures it glides on and stays in place for longer. Less is more with this product, you can always add more should you require a deeper coverage.
Then it’s time to brighten the under eye area with the Vichy DermaBlend corrector stick. This conceals even the most pesky imperfections but is still fairly lightweight. Dark circles? Spots? This is your new best friend. I personally love this as I have a spot of pigmentation on my forehead and this completely conceals it.
Pick up your Vichy DermaBlend fixing powder and dust it over your foundation. This powder is probably the most impressive product in the range, pop it on and marvel at it’s staying power. This clever little trio of products will help you to create a beautiful Blake-worthy base in minutes.
The Look Book by Kevyn Aucoin here.
Blake’s look is nice and natural but there is a hint of bronze and a slight peachy glow to the apples of the cheeks. The simplest way to achieve this is by applying your usual bronzer (Bobbi Brown is the bronzing Queen and I use the Shimmer Brick in Rose from H of F here) and adding a cream blush over the top. For a subtle hint of peach, say hello to the compact of dreams from Keyvin Aucoin. This is a fairly new brand on my radar and I don’t love all of the colours in this compact but the peachy cream blush on the second row on the right is perfect for this makeup look. As you can see the eyes are quite low key but Blake uses a mix of browns and golds to create a subtle shimmery finish.
The Lancome Hypnose Star Eye Palette here…
Create a base for your eyemakeup with the large gold square on the left then work up towards the eyebrow with the large square on the right. then build up to your desired shade with the gold and the brown shades. My favourite thing about this eye palette? There are instructions on the mirror. Thanks Lancome! Keep eyeliner to a minimum and finish the eyes with lashings of mascara after curling your lashes to ensure they pop.
Finish off the look with a slick of the palest pink gloss. This is the actual lipgloss used in the Victoria Secret fashion shows and it is glossy without being sticky but you can use any pink gloss. Visit the HoF makeup department for a little bit of beauty inspo.
*sigh* Was I the only one who kind of thought I would have magically morphed into Blake lively? Note to self, do not look at 400 pictures of Blake Lively and then take up close photos of your own face. Who is your beauty icon? There’s still time to enter to become House of Fraser’s beauty ambassador so visit their website here to find out how. Good luck ladies!
