Liberty London Girl was one of the very first blogs I discovered when I began my own blogging journey back in 2010, so when I was invited to a cookery demo hosted by Sasha Wilkins at Le Creuset in Leeds, I jumped at the chance. As a blogger, it is always exciting to meet fellow bloggers especially those that have created a full time career out of doing something they love and Sasha Wilkins is truly inspirational. An intimate affair, the cooking demo was in full swing when I arrived. A slight parking issue and a pencil skirt that only allows you to move your legs a millimetre at a time does not equal great timekeeping. Each dish demonstrated during the night was plucked from the pages of Sasha’s cookbook Friends, Food, Family and I’m happy to confirm I sampled a bit of everything (for research purposes obviously).
With a glass of Prosecco in hand, we eagerly dipped salty nachos tortilla chips into homemade guacamole as we watched Sasha whip up her signature sweetcorn frittas. The cute cooking station in the Le Crueset store was filled with the sound of chatter and the shutter snapping of DLSRs until these delicious frittas were served and a satisfied silence ensued. I showed my usual restraint and had two. I’m definitely going to try and re-create these in my kitchen as they were truly scrumptious and delightfully quick to make.
In an age where everyone is obsessed with carb free cooking and low calorie this and that, it was truly refreshing to see a cook that grates lashings of cheese into a pan with vigour. Speaking of lashings of cheese, let me introduce my favourite dish of the night which was the queso fundido (a posh name for molten cheese sprinkled with chorizo). Just phenomenal.
This is the perfect winter warmer on the run up to Christmas. In other exciting news, I entered a prize draw on the night to win Sasha’s cookbook and was jammy enough to get my hands on it! Keep your eyes peeled for a few foodie posts on the blog! More exciting than that? I met my name twin! Here’s a little shout out to Remy Miller, Sasha’s lovely assistant who was also at the cookery demo. This is the first person I’ve met that has the same name as me. EVER. *Excited face* To sum up, you need this cookbook in your life.
you didn’t dip nachos, you dipped tortilla chips.
Oh so jealous… I love LLG- great blog.
