*The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil
One of my favourite things about being a blogger is getting to try new and exciting beauty products. My cabinets are bursting with lotions and potions but very few make it into my weekly rotation of beauty products and many fall short of my expectations. As a result, it’s rare that I’ll actually finish a product and replace it. So, it’s always satisfying to find a product that you know you will use until you are scraping out the very last bit. Introducing my luxury product of the month, the Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil from The Body Shop.
I have a well rounded fake tan collection. Some would say it’s extremely similar to Monica from friends and her 14 categories of towels (guest, fancy guest etc). I have light tans for everyday, deeper tans for evenings, matte ones, shimmery ones, tans made specifically for the face, leg foundation and even a bottle of man tan should my other half feel left out. Oh, and then I have shimmer. Shimmer falls into an entirely different category to fake tan. I often apply shimmer to highlight areas of my body (shoulders, cleavage, décolletage ) or all over if I want my skin to glow on holiday. Used down the middle of your thighs, it can create the illusion of longer, slimmer legs as it reflects the light and ensures your skin sparkles. I quite simply love this product. Let me count the ways…
Let’s start with fragrance. Unlike fake tan, shimmer doesn’t take any time to develop therefore you don’t have the luxury of applying it the night before and giving the fragrance some time to fade. I’ve only ever tried one shimmer oil before (it was a Victoria Secret one) once and the fragrance really put me off so I was slightly hesitant to use this one. It’s very rare to find a fake tan or shimmer product that isn’t offensive in the fragrance department. However, this body oil smells more than sun cream than fake tan which is a bonus.
The packaging is stunning. The shimmery oil is encased in a chunky, square glass bottle which makes it appear more expensive than it really is.
If there is a downside to this product, it is application. It would be a whole lot easier if you could just spray it on. Unfortunately, you have to dab it directly on to the skin and buff it in with a brush to achieve the perfect coverage.
However, while it is fairly labour intensive, the results are gorgeous. I used the honey kissed shade and it was totally worth getting my powder brush all oily. Dab it on to the areas I mentioned earlier or use a brush to sweep it on for a full body glow. The best thing? It’s not greasy. The thought of having to go out while still being a bit clammy or greasy is not for me so I was happy that it was a dry oil and consistency wasn’t an issue.
